FAQ

Billings and Fees?

Berala Medical Clinic is a bulk billing practice. Patients with a valid Medicare Card do not pay a service fee.

The patients without a Medicare Card or private patients will pay a service fee.

Always bring Medicare card, any concession cards (e.g., Pension, DVA), and a photo ID such as driving license.

Appointments are preferred to ensure you are seen in a timely manner. Our appointment system caters for urgent, non-urgent, complex, planned chronic care and preventative healthcare. However, our clinic generally accommodates walk-ins for urgent cases.

The patients may experience a waiting period due to GPs tending to urgent or complex medical issues. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Telehealth services may be available for our regular patients. Telehealth services are at the discretion of our GP. Please contact the practice for more information. Please let us know if it is urgent.
We have a flexible approach to booking or rescheduling appointments. The patients must notify us by calling on 02 9643 1819 if they cannot attend the appointment or if they want to scheduled their appointment. Bookings made online can easily be managed through website.
Berala Medical Clinic values patient’s privacy. We email our patients from a secure email system, or practice software. The patient also receives reminder SMS messages. It is mentionable here that our doctors do not provide any health services over the email.
Depending on circumstances and considering the safety of doctors, home visits may be provided to patients. Visits must take place after clinic hours and are at the discretion of the individual GP.
The patient must make an appointment to get a medical certificate and, we regret they cannot be backdated.
Our doctors review results every day. The clinic will generally only contact the patients if follow-up action or a consultation is required. We also send a text message if required.
We collect personal information, including contact details, date of birth, medical history, family medical history, and information about treatments and consultations. Information is collected through patient registration forms, medical consultations, and from other health care providers.

Patient information is used to provide medical treatment and care, billing, and healthcare management. Additionally, it may be used for quality assurance or audit activities, training, and accreditation.

Use of patient information is strictly limited to the purposes for which it was collected, except where prior explicit consent has been obtained.

We only disclose information to other healthcare professionals, hospitals, or specialists as necessary for referral purposes or emergencies. We do not disclose any patient information without the patient’s consent.
We implement physical, administrative, and technical safeguards to protect patient information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Information is retained in accordance with legal requirements and is securely destroyed when no longer needed.
Patients have the right to access their personal information and request corrections if necessary.

We may contact you through SMS, phone, and/or letters regarding your results, follow up appointments or routine preventative healthcare like vaccinations or screenings. Your doctor may request your prompt return to follow-up on important matters.

 

To ensure we can contact you about your results and appointments, please advise our reception team that you would like to opt-in to receive SMS communications, or if you need to update your contact details on our records.

These must be done online during a consultation with GP.

For patients with language difficulties, a telephone translator service can be arranged by calling 131 450.


For patients with hearing difficulties, Auslan interpreters can be arranged by calling 1300 287 526.

Nearby Pharmacies

For your convenience, nearby pharmacies are available to dispense prescriptions during our clinic opening hours.
